摒棄西藥 靠中藥走出B肝
由於葉先生不諳華文，為了證實它的真實性，我們把葉先生寫來的英文信直接刊登：
I was a Hepatitis B carrier due to parental transmission. My doctor advised me taht so long as T take care of my health and ALT remained normal, I shall not fear about it. He further informed me that if ALT remained normal, there is no clinical drug to cure Hepatitis B.
I was rather desoperate to get rid of this virus which in my opinion, was a timebomb in my body. As such, I had sought second opinion from another specialist doctor at Hospital, Singapore and his advice was similar. Subsequently, I went to Medical Centre, Kuala Lumpur for another opinionn and the specialist doctor advised me that he will treat me with interferon "Intron A" injestion provided my ALT double the normal figure. Since then, I went for blood test every six (6) month to monitor my ALT. During this period, I also sought Chinese medication, but to no avail.
After 1 year of monitoring my ALT figure, I was then treated with Interferon injection by the docter when my Alt was 136M/L. I was hospitalized for one (1) day to observe any side-effects. For the next six (6) months, I was treated with " Intron A" injection thrice weekly and blood test every two (2) months. During this period, my body was weak, like having flu symptoms and my white-cell count was low.
Upon completing six (6) months of interferon treatment, anti-HBe was detected but Hepatitis B-DNA was also detected with virus>40,000,000 copies HepB DNA/mL against the allowable figure of <400.
Doctor informed me that since interferon treatment had not successfully prevented Hepatitis B virus and an alternative drug was requinred in which he recommended to take "Zeffix" Lamivudine-3TC. As such, I was treated with Lamivudine and continued to have blood test to monitor its effectiveness every two (2) months. First medical report showed encouraging result with Hepatitis B-DNA not detected (<400 copies), but no anti-HBe and ALT was 82u/L. Icontinued with drug for another 3 months but this time, medical report showed Hepatitis B-DNA was deteced at copies, no anti-HBe and Alt was 36. The subsequent report after 2months showed Hepatits B-DNA was 700 copies, no anti-HBe and Alt was 33. by this time, I had already taken Lamivudine for 8 1/2 months and the results were confusing.
I had then decided to stop taking Lamividine and since then, no treatment at all for next 8 months until I met with Dr.Lok. After taking his medicine for 1 1/2 years, I had my HBV-DNA less than permissible figure of 0.0001 pg/mL and Anti-HBe was positive,AST and ALT normalized. I followed up wite the necessary viral and
liver phus renal function tests for another 10 months in order to make sure that e verything was alright. To my greet delight and relief,all tests taken showed that I was cured by Dr.lok's Chinese medication.

前言：葉先生是一個B型肝炎帶原者，由於ALT指數太高，醫生因而開始用干擾素為他治療；豈知身體越醫越虛弱，白血球的量也一直在減少。後來轉用中藥一年才使AST與ALT恢復正常，總算擺脫體內這顆定時炸彈。
我因被母親感染，成為一個B型肝炎帶原者。醫生對此表示，只要我照顧好健康，肝功能ALT維持正常，就不必擔心。他還進一步告訴我，如果ALT持續維持正常，沒有什麼西藥可以用來治療。
而我卻認為B肝病毒在我體內就像一顆定時炸彈，所以，非常渴望能把它清除掉，因而去新加坡一間醫院諮詢另外一位肝病專科醫生，所獲結論與前一位醫生給的一樣。隨後我又去了吉隆玻私人醫療中心請教另一位專科醫生。他表示，如果我的ALT升高，超過正常值上限2倍，則可以用干擾素（Intron A）治療。自此以後，我每6個月追蹤檢驗一次ALT。與此同時，我也嘗試了中醫藥，但未成功。
西藥無法控制病情
ALT經過一年持續追蹤檢驗，升到了136 IU/L，醫生因而開始用干擾素治療。為觀察是否有副作用，我還住了一天院。接下來的6個月，我每週注射3次干擾素，每2個月追蹤檢驗一次。在這段治療期間內，我感到身體非常虛弱，就像感冒症狀一樣，另外就是白血球的量減少。
6個月的干擾素治素結束時，Anti-HBe出現，但HBV-DNA依然存在，其量為>40,000,000 Copies/ML，超過標準值<400 Copies/ML。
由於干擾素（interferon α)未能奏效，醫生因而建議使用拉美夫錠（Lamivudine-3TC），商品名稱Zeffix。在接下來服用拉美夫錠的6個月期間內，我每2個月抽血檢驗一次，以評估其療效。第一次的報告相當令人振奮；HBV-DNA降到測不出來的程度（<400 Copies/ML），但Anti-HBe未出現。ALT 82 IU/ML，再服用3個月後發現HBV-DNA又回升到4,600 Copies /ML，Anti-HBe仍未出現，ALT 36 IU/ML。再2個月的服用結果是HBV-DNA 700 Copies/ML，沒有Anti-HBe，ALT 33。至此，我已服用Zeffix 8個月半，但令我很失望，結果卻那麼不理想。
中藥一年制伏B肝
我因而決定停止使用拉美夫錠Zeffix。在接下來的8個月期間內，遇到陸庭譯醫師前，我完全沒有任何治療。經陸醫師用中醫治療1年後，HBV-DNA 降到標準值<0.001pg/ML（約Copies/ ML）以下，Anti-HBe出現，AST與ALT恢復正常。確定療效得以維持，我持續追蹤檢驗HBV-DNA、肝功能、腎功能10個月，所獲結果顯示陸醫師已根本治療我的慢性B型肝炎，心裏的大石頭終於落下，令我感到非常欣慰。

亂服偏方 身體傷害更大
前言：葉先生是個不相信中醫藥能把B肝治好的人。但一場B肝講座讓他有信心的服食中藥及從生活中及飲食中積極的配合，結果短短的一年多的時間，他終於制伏了B肝。
葉先生這個案例充分表明B型肝炎病毒不易被清除掉。他是位留英的工程師，實事求是。為了把B肝治癒，自己花了很多時間找資料研究，對本病有一定程度的瞭解，不隨便看診與輕易服藥。他也曾向筆者表示，他是個不相信中醫藥能把B肝治好的人。實際上，他也曾被家人逼了服用中草藥，甚至花了RM5,000服用據稱三帖就能治好B肝的偏方，結果當然是更令他堅信沒有醫學根據的藥不能隨便服用。
飲食作息一起配合
他是聽了我於2001年5月30日第一次返馬在吉隆玻馬華大廈那場演講後，讓他心服的是決定在服藥先行抽血檢驗，作為日後療效評估的依據。其實，他是一個配合度很很好的病患，非常注意自己的作息、飲食等方面的配合，例如他每晚10時就寢，不熬夜，儘量不讓自己過於勞累，注意蛋白質的攝取，但不過量，兼顧其他營養素的攝取，心情放輕鬆，經常做運動、定時定量服藥。他也定期追蹤檢驗HBeAg、Anti-HBe及HBV-DNA的量，以評估療效。
皇天不負苦心人。他自2001年6月初開始服用我的中藥，服藥前的HBeAg(+)42.57，Anti-HBe(-)4.51，HBV-DNA54.79 pg/mL，AST71，ALT198。每2個月1次的檢驗結果都顯示療效很好，各項指標均見改善。他的HBeAg血清轉換約1年左右達成，即於2002年5月21日HBeAg轉陰（nom-reactive），產生Anti-HBe HBV-DNA 降到標準值<0.001 pg/mL（約100 copies/mL）以下，AST18，ALT27為鞏固得來不易的療效，他繼續服藥4個月後才完全停藥，嗣後4次的檢驗顯示完全痊癒，未見復發，令他感到非常欣慰。
他這個案例有下列幾點啟示：
1.西醫藥治療慢性B型肝炎迄今尚有一定程度的瓶頸有待突破。中醫藥也同樣的有其優點與不足之處。由於B肝對人類的危害性很大，因80%的肝癌系由B肝病毒造成的，所以，希望科研界、醫學界能不分彼此，截長補短，以治癒病患為最高目標，共同努力，避免惡性攻擊不同邏輯思維的醫學源流。
2.病患對B肝的正確瞭解與充分的配合對治癒本病有很正面的助益。
3.療效的評估必須立基於客觀的檢驗資料，尤其是精密的ABeAg，Anti-HBe與HBV-DAN的量才是關鍵，絕非簡單的AST與ALT，更不能單憑中醫的把脈與感覺。
4.不能自己當醫生，亂服偏方，尤其是沒有大量臨床資料證明對B肝有效的偏方更不能輕易服用，以免對身體造成更大的傷害，甚至導致九死一生的猛爆性肝炎。
